This dating site comes with a twist. Like mysinglefriend.com, your profile needs to be set up by a family member or friend, however, it also lets the family member recommend potential matches by emailing the profiles they like the look of to their parent.
Who? A dating website which helps older, single parents meet other, lonely older single parents.
Why? The site was set up by Matt Connelly, 35, who wanted to find a date for his mother. Interviewed by The Daily Mail in January Connelly said: ‘The inspiration for the website came from my mum – a very lovely lady in her 60s, who has been single for too long. Early last year she asked me if I could help ‘find her knight in shining armour… I looked at a number of different online dating sites and couldn’t find any that I wanted to recommend to her. So I decided to set up www.myLovelyParent.com.’
We like: This site understands that older single people can be lonely, and, importantly, recognises that people are not only looking for cyber love but also friendship. On top of this, the interface is slick but easy to use, so appealing to those that may be slightly nervous of using technology.
Watch out: There is a sense that your children or family could take too much control. Perhaps, you want to choose your dates for yourself, not have them recommended for you. Our Graham fears that this site may be slightly too pre-arranged…
